Where the f**k is Poland?!

Poland? No, I didn't hear, is it somewhere in Russia ?
It's just one of well known answers that Poles (and not just us) hear when we ask someone about our country. Because of that we thought we do a post about it, to let some of you get to know a little bit about our country and also we're going to try to abolish some stereotypes.

First we should answer to the question that is in the title J
So Poland is located in the central Europe, in the West we border with Germany, in the SW with Czech Republic, in the South with Slovakia ,in the East with Ukraine, Belarus and Lithuania. In the North we border with Russia and sea, yes we do have a sea.

Second thing is the name of our country, it's Poland , not Po-land , it doesn't have anythink with red Po from 'Teletubbies', We are not land of Po . Or even better, of poo (hahaha)

Next thing is very amusing, in Poland polar bears really doesn't walk the streets just like that.

We read some story that some guy went on summer vacations to Poland, his friends told him to take warm clothes, hats, gloves and winter boots because they heard that we have here always winter. Poor guy, he shouldn't listen to his friends, but we would like to see his face when he landed in Poland and realized that he made a big mistake.
Our country is in Europe, not in Antarctica. If someone is planning here summer vacations, take clothes for summer, if you're planning to come here in winter, take clothes for winter. Of course it can happen that there will be some colder days in summer, but come on, we do have Four Seasons.

So if you want to have a fun in summer, and you don't want to get back  home with picture like this
 better take appropriate clothes.

Now maybe few facts

It is said that Polish is one of the hardest languages in the entire world, as the native women we can't confirm or deny because we were raised in this language, but it is true that even Poles sometimes have troubles with their own language. When we watch struggles of some foreign people with Polish, it gets interesting... and sometimes quite funny. Some people say that our language consists only of sound  like /ʂ/.
For sure Polish is not the same as Russian, Czech or Slovak, they are almost from the same language group. They are a  little bit, but really just a little bit similar in sound, but it is definitely not the same.

In Poland (the same as in other European countries) we use Celsius degrees. So if some of us is going to USA and we're not well informed we could get a little shock in contact with Fahrenheit degrees. Of course it's easy to count, 1oC = 33.8oF , but who would lost life to convert degrees?

We also have same well known persons from our country for ex.

Anja Rubik, one of the best models in world, in ranking by models.com  'money girls' she is on 18 place. Anja is also Editor in Chief of 25 Magazine.
